Journalist killed

KOHAT, Dec 4: The president of Darra Adam Khel press club and a truck driver were killed in a cross fire between two tribes on Sunday. Nasir Afridi was coming to the press club in Darra Adam Khel bazaar in his car when a stray bullet hit him killing him on the spot.

During the fierce gun-battle between the Bazi Khel and the Mala Khel tribes, the driver of a truck was also killed.

The deceased journalist worked for an Urdu daily.

An official of the Zarghun Khel khasadar picket confirmed that the authorities had arrested one person belonging to the Bazi Khel tribe soon after the incident and were holding talks with tribal elders to persuade them to hand over other accused.

He said that the incident of firing was the result of an old dispute between the two tribes.
