LAHORE:The Pakistan Ulema Council, a religious body led by ex-PM’s advisor on Religious and Middle East Affairs Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, has appealed to the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf not to resign from the National Assembly.

It has also urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Chief of Army Staff and the national political leadership to initiate a dialogue on the prevailing national political scenario and try to find out a solution.

Through a post on his Twitter account on Monday, Hafiz Ashrafi argued that en masse resignations by PTI lawmakers would lead to a political crisis in the country and thus the party leadership should avert such a situation.

He counseled the PTI that it should instead continue their struggle for its cause from the platform of the National Assembly.

Lamenting at increasing violence in politics, he suggested that the political and religious leadership should do their best for elimination of hatred and violence in the country.
