KHYBER: The Community Resilience Activity (CRA)-North organised a three-day training workshop for local poets and a sports gala for students in Jamrud to promote peace and harmony among the militancy-affected tribesmen of Khyber.

A statement issued by the CRA-North said that 25 local poets participated in the training workshop, which was the first of its type in the region. Poets and writers were given information about peace and social harmony. They were told that they could play a positive role in society by adopting those two important principles in life.

It said that so far 75 poets and writers had benefited from such training in the three tehsils of Khyber including Bara, Landi Kotal and Jamrud. It said that a two-day training workshop would be arranged for poets on poetry and prose.

A poetry recitation session will be held in the picturesque valley of Tirah by the end of these training sessions.

Meanwhile, the CRA-North organised sports competitions for students of various educational institutions of Jamrud.

Young players of cricket, volleyball and football participated in these games. The statement said that the matches were aimed at promoting healthy activities among the tribal youth.
