RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police have warned mechanics of strict action if they were found modifying motorcycles for wheelie.

This is not the first time the city traffic police took such steps to combat wheelie, in the past too they tried to check but the practice continued unabated.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Naveed Irshad in his message to the citizens said wheelie is a deadly sport, killing hundreds of children in the last one year and maiming many ohers.

“Wheelie not only endangers lives of those who practice it but also cause loss to life and property of other road users,” said the CTO. The CTO said the traffic police squads are active against wheelie at Peshawar Road, Mall Road, Jhelum Road, Old Airport Road, and Murree Road and Sixth Road.

Therefore parents are also requested to support the city traffic police in checking this practice. “Avoid giving motorbike or car to your children so that you do not face any legal trouble,” the CTO said.

He further said all mechanics who modify motorcycles for wheelie will be taken to task and FIR will be registered against them.
