PESHAWAR: A daylong Jashn-i-Nauroz fair was held at Islamia Collegiate ground here the other day.

Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF) of the Islamia College University (ICU) arranged the Jashn-i-Nauroz mela in which cultural exhibition, painting competition and mushaira were held.

Several bookstalls were also set up at the event, which were visited by a large number of students, teachers and people from various areas of Peshawar.

PkSF central president Malak Ihtesham Khan opened the event where the federation’s activists were also present.

It was followed by a seminar which was addressed by PkSF leaders, including Khalid advocate, Aminullah Kundi, Gul Hasan and Ayran Khan Mohammadzai.

A model of typical Pakhtun hurja and stalls of traditional items and foods attracted most of the visitors.

Pashto mushaira was among the key features of the fair in which over 40 poets presented their poetic pieces. Noted poet Amjad Shahzad chaired the mushaira while Prof Izhar, Kalsoom Zeb, Zeba Afridi, Shahkar Mohammadzai and others entertained the audience.

Blood donation camp was also set up on this occasion where a number of visitors and social activists donated blood. The visitors and students took keen interest in the bookstalls.
