KARACHI, Dec 2: Another seven patients, including one woman, with suspected viral hemorrhagic fever were brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Friday, said sources in the health circle.

According to a senior JPMC official, one Miskin was brought from Jacobabad, Tariq from Landhi, Karachi, and Haroon from Malir, Karachi, on Friday. Thus the tally of patients at the JMPC reached to 12.

A CHK doctor said that four patients, including one woman, with history of prolonged fever and bleeding were brought to the hospital in the wee hours of Friday from Eidgah area, Punjab Colony; while another one a fifty-year-old man from Baldia Town was brought to the CHK late on Friday night.

Talking to Dawn, the medical superintendent of CHK, Dr Kaleem Butt, said that reports of tests of five patients had been communicated to him and according to that four of the patients were found Dengue positive, while one was negative for Dengue.

He maintained that the patients in question were in the recovery phase and it was pleasing that one of the dengue positive patients was discharged from the hospital in good condition after treatment. The remaining three patients found Dengue positive were also in their recovery phase.

Dr Butt said that the blood samples of another eight patients had been sent to the NIH Islamabad for examination.
