HYDERABAD, Dec 1: Sindh health services Director General Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi here on Thursday raided the Shahbaz Laboratories, located in Site, and sealed parts of the factory. Chief drug inspector Salahuddin Tunio, divisional drug inspector Mohammad Idrees Shaikh and the drug inspector accompanied Dr Jatoi.

The officials did not find technical staff in the factory and saw that drugs were being prepared in violation of health rules. Even those medicines were being manufactured for which no testing facility was available in the factory.

The raiding team took samples of medicines from the factory store and dispatched them to quality control laboratories.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jatoi said that the licence of the factory would be cancelled after the laboratory report.

WALK: A walk was held here on Thursday under the aegis of District Task Force on HIV/AIDS and Sindh Health and Educational Society to mark the world Aids day.

The aim of the walk was to create awareness about the disease among the people.

The walk was led by district Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil.

Health EDO Dr Nazar Mohammad Junejo, Dr Zahid, Khalid Shafi, heads of various departments of the district government, lady health visitors, teachers, students, members of the business community and representatives of NGOs participated in the walk.

Speaking on the occasion, the district nazim said that the country would be in grave danger if preventive measures were not taken against the disease.

He said that far more cases of Aids and HIV had been reported in Sindh than any other province of the country.

He said Karachi had already been declared a high risk city in terms of Aids.

Health EDO Dr Junejo in his speech said that narcotics and the use of discarded syringes were the main cause for the spread of Aids.

He advised people to be careful in transfusion of blood.
