MARDAN: Two brothers were gunned down by their rivals over a land dispute in Chanuna area of Katlang tehsil on Thursday.

Officials of Kharki police station quoted Adnan Khan, brother of the victims, as saying that he along with his father Shadaat Khan, brothers Sher Dil and Murad and uncle Laldad were on way back home when their rivals opened firing on them, killing his two brothers on the spot.

Adnan said that he, his father and uncle escaped in the firing. He cited a land dispute as cause of the incident.

The police lodged an FIR on the complaint of Adnan against the suspects identified as Mehboob, Qaiser and Ameer Khan, sons of Malang, and Hamesh Gul and his son Farid Gul.

Meanwhile, one transgender person was killed and another injured when unknown armed persons entered their residential room located near Charsadda Chowk here on Thursday and opened firing on them.

The slain transgender person was identified as Iqbal alias Chand and the injured as Zamarud.

The police registered an FIR on the complaint of Zamarud against unknown suspects.
