Industry conference opens today

KARACHI, Dec 1: A two-day first Pakistan Industry Conference is beginning in the city from Friday in which top government dignitaries, senior bureaucrats, corporate leaders and industry and trade captains are participating.

The inaugural session of the conference on Friday will also be an occasion for distribution of SITE Export Trophy. Leaders of industry Mirza Ikhtiar Baig and Siraj Teli will give businessmen perception of the existing environment while the federal industries and production minister Jehangir Tareen will respond by outlining government strategy on how to sustain the industrial growth.

Saturday will be a hectic day spread over five working and one concluding sessions. The themes of these sessions are meeting energy demand of the growing industry, capacity building of SMEs to back up large-scale manufacturers, bridging the human resource gaps, building communication network to support the industrial growth, monetary and fiscal policy for industrial growth and investing in the new generation of industries. Participants are Dr Salman Shah, Jehangir Tareen and Dr Hafeez Sheikh from the federal cabinet, Ahmad Waqar, Dr Akram Sheikh from the bureaucracy, and the corporate leaders and businessmen Zafar Ali Khan, Sohail Wajahat, Farooq Rahmatullah, Francis A Rozario, Khjawaja Shahab Anwar, Mansur Khan, Saifuddin Zoomkawala, Paul Keijzer, Engineer Abul Kalam, Dr Pervaiz Tahir, Vice Admiral Ahmad Hayat, Abdulllah Yusuf, Aqeel Karim Dhedi, Arshad Zuberi and others.
