KARACHI, Nov 30: Test fast bowler Umar Gul returned career-best figures of eight for 78 in the rain-marred drawn Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League fixture between Peshawar and Karachi Urban at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar.

Umar, who is battling to reclaim his place in the national side after recuperating from a serious back injury, was Peshawar’s star as the hosts dismissed Karachi Urban for 270 in the first innings.

Peshawar, last season’s champions, ended their campaign in this last league round match by reaching 326 for five. Opener Riffatullah Mohmand was their mainstay with 121.

Peshawar resumed Wednesday’s final day of the match at 52 for two.

After the first day was washed out, Karachi Urban, who were put into bat first, reached 59 for one in the 21.4 overs available on Monday.
