Robbers’ gang busted

SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 30: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested three alleged members of a robbers’ gang, including their ringleader, and recovered cattle and illicit weapons from their possession. Nankana Sahib District Police Officer Zulfiqar Hameed told journalists that Syedwala police SHO Inspector Tariq Mehmood and In charge, Investigation, Inspector Riazuddin, along with other police personnel, arrested the gang leader, Jalal alias Jala, and his two other accomplices Azhar and Malla in a raid conducted on a tip off.

The police also recovered cattle and other booty worth Rs0.5 million, besides a 7mm rifle, 12 bore gun, a carbine and a pump-action gun from their possession, the DPO said.

The DPO claimed the arrested outlaws were involved in many heinous crimes, besides cattle thefts. They were also wanted by Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Faisalabad and other districts’ police for the last many years, he added.

Punjab IGP has announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the raiding party for this successful operation, the DPO said.
