BAHAWALPUR, Nov 30: All the vacant posts in various disciplines in addition to those in administrative sections of the Islamia University Bahawalpur will be filled soon. This was stated by IUB vice-chancellor Prof Dr Belal A Khan here on Wednesday.
Talking to Dawn, the VC said he wondered the varsity was being run without even the heads of various departments for the last many years. He said the advertisements inviting applications for the vacant posts of professors, associate professors and assistant professors, besides the administrative posts including that of the registrar, had been released to select capable individuals from all over the country.
He said the varsity departments like English, Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics and Mathematics were facing shortage of senior teachers. Now these vacant posts in BS-20, 19 and 18, will be filled either on regular basis or through tenure track system according to the Higher Education Commission’s policy.
The VC said on the development side, a number of uplift schemes costing hundreds of millions of rupees would be initiated in the varsity. The projects included the construction of administrative block, laboratories for the University College of Engineering and Technology (UCET) and the portions of various faculties and hostels’ buildings.
He expressed the hope that in the due course of time, the varsity would be brought at par with other universities of the country.
