KARACHI: No death from Covid-19 was reported on Wednesday. However, 246 new cases emerged when 7,342 tests were conducted.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here from CM House.

Mr Shah said that 7,342 samples were tested which detected 246 cases that constituted a 3.4 per cent current detection rate. He added that so far 8,016,563 tests have been conducted against which 567,758 cases were diagnosed, of them 97pc or 551,424 patients have recovered, including 127 overnight.

The CM said that currently, 8,431 patients were under treatment, of them 8,295 were in home isolation, five at isolation centres and 131 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 123 patients was critical, including 7 shifted to ventilators. According to the statement, out of 246 new cases, 47 have been detected from Karachi.

According to district wise statistics, Karachi East 23, Karachi South 12, Karachi Central, West and Malir reported one each case.

Hyderabad 25, Thatto 21, Jam Shoro 20, Nawab Shah 16, Dadu 15, Matiari 13, Noushehro Feroze 12, Tando Muhammad Khan 11, Korangi and Shikarpur nine each, Ghotki seven, Tharparkar, Jacobabad, Sukkur and Sanghar six each, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot and Sujawal five, Badin and Tando Allahyar four each, Khairpur two, Larkana one.

Sharing the vaccination data, in the last 24 hours, 76,034 covid vaccines have been given, while 48,435,178 or 88.35pc people have been vaccinated.
