PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa excise, taxation and narcotics control department launched online tax payment system on Tuesday.

A statement issued here said that the system, which would also include online motor vehicle registration system and universal number plates for vehicles, was launched at a function presided over by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

The chief minister said that the newly-introduced online tax payment system and centralised motor vehicle registration would prove a milestone in providing improved services to the people of the province.

The statement said that a high tech mobile application ‘Zama KP’ was developed for online registration of vehicles and online payment of various taxes. It said that initially the app offered facility of online payment of urban property tax and registration of motor vehicles for the consumers.

CM urges people to benefit from online vehicle registration facility

Now people can pay their taxes and register their vehicles through mobile phone. They would not need to visit the relevant offices for the purpose. In the next phase, this app could be used for online payment of taxes of other departments as well.

The centralised motor vehicle registration system will help in doing away with the district-based vehicles registration. The vehicles will now be registered by mentioning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with no mention of the district.

Addressing the ceremony, the chief minister said that the newly-introduced online tax payment system and centralised motor vehicle registration would prove to be a milestone in providing improved services and facilities to the people of the province.

He said that effective use of information technology in government departments was an integral part of the e-governance policy of his government.

He said that government was introducing a standardised system of e-tendering and e-bidding in the works department to eliminate the role of middlemen.

The chief minister said that from the next fiscal year, all types of procurements in government departments would be carried out under a standardised system of e-procurement.

He urged people to get maximum benefits of the online vehicle registration facility and get their vehicles registered in the province.

Members of provincial cabinet Muhibullah Khan, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif and Khaleeq ur Rahman besides relevant officials attended the event.
