Pakistan has reported 378 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, compared to 756 a day earlier, marking the first time since December 28 that daily infections dropped below 500.

The country had recorded 482 cases on that day.

Meanwhile, the positivity rate has dropped to 1.3 per cent, down from 2pc a day earlier. A total of nine additional fatalities have also been confirmed.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • Sindh: 92 cases
  • Punjab: 124 cases, 4 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 117 cases, 3 deaths
  • Balochistan: 10 cases, 1 death
  • Islamabad: 19 cases, 1 death
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 5 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 11 cases
