LARKANA, Nov 29: MNA Anwar Bhutto has said increasing train fares without taking the National Assembly’s standing committee on railways into confidence will be unfair.
Talking to Dawn here on Tuesday, Mr Bhutto, who is a member of the standing committee, said if fares were increased, he would take up the matter in the standing committee to resist the move.
He regretted that instead of providing better travelling facilities to commuters, the government was raising fares.
He said private transporters would get maximum financial benefits if train fares were increased.
He said that despite repeated requests during standing committee meetings, PR authorities had not provided details of leased out properties of railways.
Mr Bhutto said he had been drawing attention of PR authorities towards the railway track between Larkana and Karachi which needed maintenance but to no avail.
