We don’t always have a vase on hand, which sometimes become a problem if we get real or artificial flowers unexpectedly. But it doesn’t mean we go running to the shop to buy it.

However, creating one in our free time is the perfect way to utilise our energy and useless stuff lying around our house.

So today, we are making jute rope flower vase, which not only gives one the comfort of doing things the way we want, but we can also get the look that we desire without having to spend money.

Things you need:

  1. Jute rope

  2. Hot glue

  3. Empty kitchen towel roll

  4. Scissors

  5. Cardboard (use any empty carton)

  6. Ruler

  7. Pencil or marker

Note: Because we are making it from an empty kitchen towel roll, the easy shape for the vase will be a gourd shape and the typical height of the roll is around 12 inches. So I decided to make the round part after the neck to be of four inches, (you can alter if you want).

Directions:

  1. Mark the flattened carton at 4-inch height, picture 2.

  2. Cut semi amphora-shaped pieces at the marked 4-inch on cardboard, see picture 3. (You will need 10)

  3. With the help from an elder, paste the semi-amphora pieces on the empty towel roll, picture 4.

  4. Paste all the pieces by giving 1-cm space among all, picture 5.

  5. Start rolling the jute rope from the top, while using hot glue in intervals, pictures 6 and 7.

  6. Be careful once you reach the round part of the vase, don’t lose the grip on the rope, or make it too tight, pictures 8 and 9.

  7. Your vase is almost ready; just cover the awkward frame visible from the bottom with a cardboard piece, and if you have a jute cloth, paste that as well, pictures 10 and 11.

  8. Decorating the vase completely depends on you, but if you want it simple, you can make a flower from jute rope or give colours to it by pasting any colourful artificial flower on it, picture 12.
