2 held for stealing donated money

PESHAWAR, Nov 27: The city police have arrested two people for stealing Rs400,000 donated by people of Sufaid Dheri for earthquake victims, says an official statement issued here on Sunday.

The Pishtakhara police, after investigation into the theft, arrested Afghan Saeed, son of Mohammad Nazir, and Abdullah Chitrali.

The accused confessed to the crime and said that the theft plan had been prepared by Habibullah, son of Fazli Allah, and Kamal, son of Ghulam Hazrat.

Kamal’s grandfather Qari Israrullah had been given the donation by people of the area and he was keeping Rs400,000 in his home, the statement said.

Kamal said that Kamran and Shah Nawaz were their accomplices. Police are lookig for the other accused.

KILLED: The bullet-riddled body of a labourer was found in Kotla Mohsin Khan area in Bhana Mari on Sunday.

Duran Gul told police that his son Shamsher had gone to an under-construction house in Kotla Mohsin Khan for work. However, on Sunday morning his body was found near the site.

BUS ROBBED: Two robbers deprived passengers of a public bus of cash and wristwatches on the Sher Shah Suri road near the Peshawar High Court on Saturday evening.

Witnesses said robbers who were in the bus had forced the driver at gunpoint to stop the vehicle and fled after collecting money and watches. The bus was coming from the Hayatabad township and going to the general bus stand

The witnesses said they had also fired shots to create panic.

However, police had yet to register a case.

They said none of the passengers of the bus had come to lodge a complaint against the robbers.
