LARKANA, Nov 26: Mana-gements of two big hospitals in the interior of Sindh — Chandka Medical College Hospital and People’s Medical College Hospital — set up isolation wards after outbreak of viral fever, killing five people in Karachi.
In the CMCH, the surgical ward was converted into the isolation ward for treating probable cases of hemorrhagic fever.
CMCH medical superintendent Dr Mehboob Shah told Dawn that Prof (Dr) Wazeer Shaikh, head of the department of medicine would supervise the wards.
He said that necessary material and medicines were made available for patients.
He said preventative measures were adopted and masks provided to the OPD doctors and paramedics in this regard.
He said that anti-viral drugs in each room, gown of patients, mask cap, sterilization and trained staff were provided to isolation units.
NAWABSHAH: An isolation ward has been set up in the People’s Medical College Hospital for the probable cases of the Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever.
PMCH medical superintendent Dr Mahfooz Qureshi told Dawn that the intensive care unit (ICU) ward, which was not functioning, has been converted into the isolation ward on the directive of the Sindh’s health secretary.
He said physicians and paramedical staff had been deputed in the ward with preventive measures, including gloves and masks.
