GILGIT: A two-day ice sports festival started in Yasin valley of Ghizer district here on Sunday.

Competitions of ice curling, ice hockey, ice skating and ice polo are part of the festival.

The inaugural ceremony of the event was held at Chumarkhan ground.

Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly member Ghulam Mohammad and GB Council member Mohammad Ayub Shah were also present, besides a large number of people.

Fifteen teams, including women, are participating in the event, organised by the local community organisations to explore winter tourism potential of the area.
