LAHORE: The ‘Untold Story of a Serial Killer’ release has been stopped by the Punjab government as the movie will reportedly undergo re-examination by the Central Board of Film Censors.

The board secretary, Shakaib Sarwar, says, “The film will go through a re-examination due to complaints from different quarters”.

Meanwhile, according to a Punjab Government notification No-7-5/2022-PFCB/Lhr Information and Culture Department of Jan 26, “I am directed to inform you that the Government of the Punjab in exercise of the powers conferred under section 9 ( 1&2) of Motion Picture Ordinance 1979 adopted through Punjab Motion Picture (amendment Act 2013( x of 2012 has decided to reexamine your above titled film in the wake of persistent complaints received from different quarters. You are therefore directed not to release your film till the decision of the committee. The time and place for re-examination will be intimidated later on”.

The film is a biopic of Javed Iqbal, the serial killer, starring Yasir Hussain and Ayesha Omar. The film was to be screened nationwide on Jan 28.
