TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad’s Kotwali women police on Friday arrested a young man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a woman reporter of a TV channel and harassed her.

Complainant Noreen Tabassam, a resident of the Jaranwala Road, claimed, in her first information report (FIR), that suspect Usman and his unidentified accomplice tried to force her to sit on their motorcycle and when she offered resistance, they tortured her and tore her clothes.

Women police arrested Usman while raids were being conducted to arrest his accomplice.

ENCOUNTER: Faisalabad’s Thikriwala police arrested a robbery suspect after he was injured in an alleged encounter.

Police said two robbers were robbing the passengers at Landa Canal bridge near Chak 65-JB when they raided. The suspects opened fire on police, which was also retaliated and one robber was wounded. The injured robber was arrested; however, his accomplice managed to escape.

The arrested suspect was identified as Tariq Akbar of Chak 73-JB. Police shifted him to Allied Hospital.

Police claimed that the suspect was wanted by various police stations in a number of robbery cases.

Police spokesperson Syed Muneeb Ahsan claimed that the suspect was injured by the firing of his own accomplice.

INJURED: Five people were wounded in an accident, involving a car and two motorcycle-rickshaws at the Seowal Railway Station bus station on Toba-Gojra road.

The Rescue 1122 said a speeding car tried to save a motorcyclist on the road and hit two motorcycle-rickshaws. As a result of the accident, three passengers of the rickshaws and car driver and his wife were also injured.

All the wounded were admitted to district headquarters hospital in a critical condition. They were identified as car rider Hasan Raza of Faisalabad and his wife Shakila Bibi and rickshaw passengers, identified as Sajid, Tanweer and Ali Haider.
