NAROWAL: The rehabilitation work on 17km-long railway track from Narowal to Kartarpur Railway Station has started.

On the special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the work has started the track on the section from Narowal to Chak Amro, which was closed for the last 17 years.

The Pakistan Railways will complete the track rehabilitation in two phases. In the first phase, the construction and repair, maintenance wing of the railways would rehabilitate the railway track from Narowal to Kartarpur Railway Station.

The rail panels, each of them 80 feet long, used on the main line have reached Narowal. Two modern automatic cranes would be used to install the panels.

On this track, a passenger train can run at a speed of 100km per hour. The engineers of Pakistan Railways will work with 200 labourers on the project.

According to the sources, the rehabilitation of one kilometre of railway track will cost Rs60m.
