SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces seized some weapons in Sarwakai area of South Waziristan tribal district, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) here on Sunday.

During an intelligence-based operation in Sarwakai, the security forces recovered a huge cache of weapons. A large number of arms, ammunition and material for making improvised explosive devices were recovered from a hideout.

The weapons recovered from the hideout include submachine guns, RPG-7, hand grenades and a large quantity of ammunition.

Local officials told Dawn in Wana that the recovered weapons belonged to militants of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, who had left the hideout before the operation.

They said that police also took part in the operation.

The Wana-Sarwakai road was closed before the operation.
