LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has offered Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid to contest the all-important Lahore Mayor elections in the local government elections expected to be held in May this year.

It is reliably learnt that Dr Rashid had not given her consent upfront as she wanted to discuss the ways and means to contest the election.

Sources in the chief minister’s secretariat told Dawn that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had recommended Dr Rashid as the mayor candidate to Prime Minister Imran Khan. Sources said the premier had assigned the task to federal education minister Shafqat Mahmood to convince Dr Rashid to become Lahore Mayor candidate.

Sources also claimed that the offer was given to Dr Rashid in a meeting with Mr Buzdar and Mr Mahmood.
