KARACHI: Drive against billboards

Published November 25, 2005

KARACHI, Nov 24: The city government’s revenue and local government department has started a campaign to remove illegal, ugly and haphazardly installed billboards.

During the campaign so far 70 such advertisement boards have been removed from the Saddar and Gulshan towns.

On completion of the drive in these towns, action will start in Jamshed, North Nazimabad and other towns.

District Officer Local Taxes Masood Alam said that some persons obtained permission for some other locations but installed the board at other site while some boards were installed without permission.

He said some of the boards were installed in a manner that these were causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and also blocking air and sunlight to the residential units.—APP
