SWAT: Two children were killed and another was critically wounded in a grenade explosion in Kala Kallay area of Kabal tehsil here on Monday evening.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Shafiqa Gul said three minor brothers were critically wounded when the grenade they were playing with went off in Awarpatey locality. “A Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and shifted the injured children to Kabal hospital, where doctors pronounced two children dead.
They were identified as nine-year-old Jamal and 11-year-old Karimullah. Seven-year-old Abubakar was shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital in critical condition,” Ms Gul said.
Police and bomb disposal squad personnel reached the spot to gather information. “The children had found the grenade near their house and put it into the fireplace inside their house, causing it to explode, leaving the two brothers dead and injuring the third,” a police official said.
