FAISALABAD, Oct 4: Experts of the Ayub Agricultural Research Institute have asked growers to arrange wheat seed of high yielding varieties to ensure its in-time sowing.

According to a spokesman of the AARI, seed of only recommended varieties should be arranged to get maximum yield.

He says MH-97 is suitable for irrigated areas of central and southern Punjab, and its sowing period is from Oct 25 to Nov 20. Uqab-2000 is also suitable for these areas, while its sowing period is from Nov 1 to Dec 10. The sowing period of Chenab-2000 is from Nov 1 to Dec 10, while Punjab-96 can be sown in all irrigated areas of the Punjab from Nov 1 to Nov 10. Pasban-90 is suitable for saline lands, and it can be sown from Nov 1 to 30 in irrigated areas of central and southern Punjab.

The sowing period of Inqlab-91 is from Nov 10 to Dec 10, while Iqbal-2000 is recommended for sowing from Nov 15 to Dec 15 in all irrigated lands of the province.—APP
