KARACHI: Judicial Magistrate (west) Asif Raza Meer has indicted Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Malik Shehzad Awan in a case pertaining to torturing a man and his family.

MPA Awan along with his aides Imran Shah and Qaiser have been booked for torturing Muhammad Aslam Awan and his family members on July 2, 2019.

The MPA and others appeared before the magistrate, who framed charges on them. However, Awan and three other accused pleaded not guilty.

The court issued notices to the witnesses of prosecution and investigating officer for the next date of hearing.

A case was registered under Sections 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 506-B (criminal intimidation), 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to committing of the theft) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Madina Colony police station.

According to the prosecution, MPA Awan along with his unidentified aides armed with weapons trespassed on the house of the complainant, insulted his wife and daughter-in-law and outraged their modesty and inflicted the butt of a Kalashnikov on the complainant’s son Sajjad and injured his hand.

They also threatened the complainant at gunpoint to force him to withdraw his complaint lodged at the Mauripur police station. He was also charged with forcibly obtaining a cheque from the complainant at gunpoint.
