ISLAMABAD: The capital reported a death from Covid-19 and 300 more infections on Friday.

As many as 284 cases were recorded a day earlier.

According to officials of the capital administration, the deceased was in the age group of 70-79 and resided in I-8.

As many as 5,407 tests were conducted in Islamabad out of which results of 180 males and 120 females came back positive at a rate of 5.54pc.

The officials said 86 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 56 in 20-29, 52 in 40-49, 38 in 50-59, 24 in 10-19, 18 each in 0-9 and 60-69, six in 70-79 and two patients were over 80.

They said 22 cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by 19 from G-10, 17 from F-11, 16 from F-10, 13 from Rawat, 12 each from E-11 and G-5, 11 from G-9, 10 from G-11, eight from H-9, seven from I-9, six each from G-6 and F-7, five each from Bhara Kahu, G-13, D-12 and Alipur, four from F-8, three each from I-8, F-6, G-7, Tarlai and Tumair, two each from Chak Shahzad, I-10, G-8, Sihala, Khanna, Sohan, H-8, I-11 and Rawal Town and one each from Koral, Kurri, E-7, G-14, Tarnol, E-10 and G-12.

The tally of Covid-19 confirmed cases in Islamabad has reached 110,244, the officials said, adding that so far 107,903 recovered and 968 died.

The number of active cases has risen to 1,373, the officials said, adding that out of the total 52 were admitted to hospitals and the rest were isolated at their homes.

Meanwhile, 125 patients surfaced in the district on Friday while 17 were discharged from hospitals after recovering.

“So far no new Omicron patient has been reported in the district,” District Health Officer Dr Ehsan Ghani told Dawn.

“We have sent samples of 42 suspected Omicron patients to the National Institute of Health for Covid-19 serology and their report are awaited,” he added.

He said at present cases of seasonal flu and fever were also increasing, adding that people should take precautions and receive booster shots.

According to the health authority data, the positivity ratio in the district increased from 6.02pc to 7.53pc. As many as 1,660 samples were sent for testing.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 439 active patients with 33 in hospitals and 406 patients at home.

A total of 36 patients came from different parts of Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment, 27 from city areas, 28 from Potohar Town, one from Kallar Syedan, three from Kahuta, 12 from Taxila, 14 from Gujar Khan, one from Sargodha and three from Chakwal.

There are 33 patients admitted to hospitals of Rawalpindi city out of whom eight were in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, one each at District Headquarters Hospital and Holy Family Hospital, 12 patients at Fauji Foundation Hospital, nine patients at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and one at Attock Hospital Rawalpindi.

There are three patients on ventilator in Rawalpindi, 21 patients are on Oxygen and nine are stable.
