Killer hanged

FAISALABAD, Nov 23: A condemned prisoner was hanged in the district jail on Wednesday. Ghulam Murtaza, 25, had shot dead his cousin, Yaseen, over a petty dispute in Chak 191-RB of Chak Jhumra Town in 1994.

The accused was awarded death sentence by the district and sessions court which was upheld by the high court as well as the Supreme Court. His relatives tried their best to reconcile the matter with the victim party, but all their efforts proved futile.

On Wednesday, Ghulam Murtaza was hanged and his body handed over to his brother.

DEATH SENTENCE: The district and sessions judge on Wednesday awarded death sentence on three counts with a fine of Rs300,000 to a convict for killing his sister-in-law and her two daughters.

According to the prosecution, Manzoor of Chak 22-GB had shot dead Ameena Bibi and her two daughters, Shagufta and Naseem, over a matrimonial dispute on Nov 25, 2004.
