EPZ approved for Sahiwal

SAHIWAL, Nov 23: The federal government has approved an Export Processing Zone for Sahiwal. The district nazim has arranged 40 acres of land while the government had asked for 100 acres for this purpose. Various units, including livestock, dairy products, fruit and vegetables processing, are to be established at the EPZ.

The government has desired early provision of land in view of the interest shown by foreign investors, the district government has been informed.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed and eight others suffered injuries in separate road accidents here on Wednesday.

A speeding wagon (PKH-9314) overturned while taking a sharp turn on Sahiwal-Pakpattan road near river Sukh Bias. As a result, passenger Binyamin died on the spot while eight others sustained injuries, four of them serious.

In Jogi Chowk, a motorcycle-rickshaw (SLK-7601) hit a bicyclist. Consequently, Muhammad Arshad died on the spot. Police have registered cases and arrested rickshaw driver Sha’aban.

Meanwhile, three armed robbers snatched a motorcycle from a farmer near Chaukbundi village on Tuesday evening.

Muhammad Nawab was going by his motorcycle (OKC-4243) when he was intercepted and deprived of his bike.
