HYDERABAD, Nov 23: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed, who is the project director of the Hyderabad Development Package (HDP), has said that two water supply schemes were under consideration to cover the shortage of water in the Hyderabad city and Latifabad taluka.
He was presiding over a meeting held in his camp office to identify the schemes of the HDP that need to be completed on priority basis.
The DCO said that one scheme to cover the shortage of water was to establish a water filter plant on top of Ganjo Takkar with the water supply from the Akram wah and the second scheme was to sink eleven wells.
He directed the HDP to prepare a separate plan for schemes to be completed immediately.
Mr Syed said the district government was giving top priority to the supply of water, drainage and roads.
He directed consultants to prepare a feasibility report about repair and rehabilitation of 15 existing pumping stations.
He also directed them to conduct a survey to establish new pumping stations in all three talukas of the urban areas.
While talking about improvement of roads, the DCO said that Qazi Qayoom road, goods Naka, old Odeon cinema, cloth market, Pinjra Pole, Pakistan chowk, Moula Ali Qadamgah and three main roads of Hirabad would be considered.
Mr Syed asked the HDA to complete the drainage and water supply system before starting the development work on the roads.
He also directed the HDA, TMAs and town planning to conduct a survey of parks and playgrounds to complete them on priority works.
Others who attended the meeting were Director General of the HDA Tahir Ahmed, WASA Managing Director Kafeel Ahmed, director of the town planning and consultants from the Osmani group.
GOVERNOR’S PACKAGE: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed, who is also the project director of the governor’s development package of Rs500 million, has been briefed about the progress of the project.
The DCO expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of the works.
He dissolved the previous technical committee of the project and constituted a new one.
Mr Syed blacklisted a contractor and froze his account on unsatisfactory performance.
He warned other contactors to complete the work on time otherwise action would be taken against them.
Earlier, the DCO was informed that 29 schemes of water supply and drainage have been completed at the cost of Rs29.777 million.
He was informed that the work on 44 schemes was in progress with the estimated cost of Rs208.474 million.
Project coordinator Faheem Junejo said that 13 new schemes of Rs39.521million would also be started soon.
The DCO directed the HDA to give tenders for all 13 schemes within one week.
