KARACHI, Nov 23: The Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Dr Hamida Khuhro, dispelling an impression that the chapters/lesson on a veteran poet Shah Abdul Karim Bulri had been deleted from the textbooks, said the topic still existed in the two textbooks.

Talking to a delegation of intellectuals here on Wednesday, she said that there was repetition of topics in the curricula while many other very important personalities who played significant role in the independence movement were ignored.

She said the curriculum was being revised both at the federal and the provincial levels and she wanted avoiding repetition of topics in the textbooks so that maximum number Sindh heroes could be included in the course.

In this regard, Dr Khuhro said she had already ordered the inclusion of chapters on veteran heroes and leaders of Sindh and of the Islamic world like Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi, Kamal Ata Turk and others in the textbooks.

She informed that article on Shah Abdul Karim Bulri still existed in Salees Sindhi for class five and also in Sindhi book of Intermediate. Dr Khuhro said that raising hue and cry on this issue, was politically motivated.

The minister said that the federal government had also been approached for the inclusion of chapters on leading Sindhi personalities, culture, history etc in the curriculum.—APP
