LAHORE: Police claimed on Friday to have arrested three men – the attackers and a facilitator – in the case of firing on two Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers at Muslim Town.

Unidentified persons opened fire on the vehicle of two officers of the FBR at Muslim Town a few days ago. Both the officers remained safe in the firing.

Police said the suspects shot at the vehicle of FBR Deputy Commissioner Salman Naveed Butt from behind and the officer remained safe. The motorcyclists fled after the incident. Police registered a case of firing on the vehicle of the FBR officers against two men.

A Punjab police spokesperson said both the shooters and the facilitator had been arrested after they were identified by the Safe Cities Authority cameras.

Earlier, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and IGP Rao Sardar Ali Khan had taken notice of the incident and directed immediate arrest of the suspects. Police are investigating Rana Tafsir who hired shooters Ijaz and Musa Masih and raids were carried out to arrest main suspect Usman Javed.

It is learnt that a case of Rs400 million tax evasion was being probed and DC Salman Naveed Butt was targeted for this very reason.
