LAHORE, Nov 22: The National Assembly’s Standing Sub-committee on Railways will be meeting on Wednesday (today) to re-examine recruitments of non-gazetted employees made in the railways from 2002 to date, it is learnt.

Committee convener Farooq-i-Azam will preside over the meeting at Parliament House in Islamabad being held to re-evaluate the cases of all employees recruited in BS-1 to BS-11, sources told Dawn.

The PR administration had decided in September to hold suitability test of its over 4,000 employees.

Some 150 or so employees in BS-3 and above, recruited during 1990 to 1995, were also among the 4,000 workers who were directed to appear for the suitability test scheduled to be held simultaneously at railways’ all divisional headquarters on Sept 18 at 10am.

Sources said the decision to hold the suitability test was taken on the directive of the National Assembly’s standing sub-committee on Railways. The test was postponed when a number of affected employees got stay orders from courts.

BIFURCATION: The PR will have three general managers as the post of the GM (Manufacturing and Services) has been bifurcated.

Former GM (operations) Abdul Wahab Awan has been made the new GM (Development & Services) while Aurangzeb Khan will be the GM (Manufacturing), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Railways.
