Man killed by rivals

SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 22: A man was killed in an exchange of fire between two farmers’ groups at Dera Ismael Memo Wali on Tuesday. Reports said Rasheed and his colleague Ishaq Masih were harvesting paddy in their fields when their rivals, led by Iqbal, came and forbade them from working. As a result of which a scuffle took place and Iqbal’s men opened fire, injuring Ishaq Mashi critically. Later, he died in hospital. Bhikhi police are investigating.

Reports said a passenger wagon was on its way to Sheikhupura from Lahore. The robbers travelling in the guise of passengers intercepted driver Farzand, hijacked the vehicle and deprived people of their cash, wrist watches and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees. The bandits also beat up the driver and the conductor on offering resistance.

Factory area police are investigating.
