KARACHI, Nov 22: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, sentenced on Tuesday a man to suffer life imprisonment for killing a police constable during a shootout.
Ahmed Din, stated to be a worker of the Muttahida Quami Movement, was found guilty of killing PC Mohammed Ishaq on May 18, 1995, in the limits of Garden police.
It was alleged that a police party reached Nishtar Road after receiving information about some armed suspects in the vicinity. As the police spotted the suspect, they opened fire fatally injuring the constable, who died at the hospital.
The judge also sentenced Ahmed Din to a two-year term for the shootout with police under Section 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Three other accused, Shafique Kala, Arshad Dhobi and Tahir Lamba, were declared absconders.
FIR AGAINST COPS: The district and sessions judge, East, Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani, ordered the registration of a case against three persons, including two police officials.
The judge ordered the registration of FIR against Sub-inspector Mohammed Irfan, ASI Ashfaq Ahmed of Korangi police and their third associate Shafique Hasan on the application of Rana Mohammed Azhar.
The complainant alleged that the three accused had occupied his sea food processing factory in Korangi on Sept 17.
Earlier, Rana Mohammed Azhar had also moved an application against the three accused in the same court, alleging that they were harassing him.
