LAHORE: PML-N MPA Bilal Yasin was allegedly injured in an armed attack on Mohni Road here on Friday night.

He got two bullets in his abdomen and another on a leg and was taken to the Mayo Hospital where his condition was said to be serious.

A police official said Bilal Yasin was returning home from the house of PML-N leader Mian Akram on Mohni Road by motorbike which he used to travel in his densely populated constituency when two masked men appeared there on a two-wheeler and opened fire leaving him injured.

The police official said the locals rushed to save their lives in panic. They later reached the crime scene and called police and the Rescue 1122 on finding the MPA in a pool of blood. He said the motive behind the murder attempt on the PML-N leader was not known.

Police enhanced security in and around the area and launched hunt for the suspects.

The CCTV footages were being obtained from the area to trace the armed attackers, he said. He said senior police officers also reached the crime scene for investigation and in the hospital to ensure treatment of the injured MPA.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar ordered Capital City Police Officer Fayyaz Ahmed Dev to submit a report and arrest the culprits at the earliest.
