KARACHI, Nov 20: People from all walks of life, including senior politicians and eminent religious and social figures, assembled in a large number at the Ameer Khusro Park here on Sunday to pay homage to Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani on the occasion of his second death anniversary, which is being observed all around world.

MMA President and Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed paid glowing tributes to the contributions made by Shah Ahmed Noorani towards promotion of Islam. He said Allama Noorani’s life was the best example of resistance against repressive forces and fight for right.

He said that Shah Noorani had provided the basis for trust and reliance among the six component parties of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal. “It’s not an easy task to reach out the masses and bring them on a one-point agenda,” he said, while referring to the the struggle made by the founder of Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP).

Leader of the Opposition in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani said Shah Ahmed Noorani did not only play a key role in the preparing the country’s constitution, but had also rendered valuable services towards keeping the same intact even in critic al periods.

JUP President Prof Shah Faridul Haq said that Allama Noorani devoted his entire life for the cause of Islamic rule in the country.

He vowed to continue Shah Noorani’s mission with utmost dedication and asked JUP followers to play their due role in this regard.

Chairman of the World Islamic Mission Allama Shah Anus Noorani and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.—PPI
