WASTE MANAGEMENT: Bhara Kahu is a densely populated area located about 16km from Islamabad. The population of this town has increased gradually and so is the waste production from houses, markets and restaurants. Regrettably, there is no proper site assigned by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for waste-dumping. The citizens are, therefore, compelled to throw the garbage on empty plots and playgrounds. The CDA should address the waste management problem of Bhara Kahu without delay.

CONTEMPT OF COURT: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Multan bench has directed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to grant five compensatory marks to all candidates who appeared in the Law GAT tests held in 2019 and 2020. However, the HEC is still reluctant to implement the LHC orders across the board, and has granted marks only to students of a certain university. It looks like a case of contempt of court. Is it?

MERITOCRACY EXISTS: When I attained a small success and became an auditor in the merit-oriented Accountant-General Sindh office on my own, many asked me if I had used money or connections to get selected. It became all the more shocking when my write-ups were published by newspapers, and I was again subjected to the same type of queries. This suggests that we do not trust ourselves to have a free and fair system. This is unfortunate.

TRANSPORT ROUTE: The proposed Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in Karachi is a good project, but it will facilitate only people of Korangi industrial area where a functional

transport system already exists. The project does not target the larger population of Korangi and Landhi residential areas where it is needed the most. The route of the BRTS should start from Dawood Chowrangi, Landhi, to Regal Chowk via residential and industrial areas of Korangi.
