Nepal capture ACC trophy

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: Nepal walked home with a seven-wicket victory over Malaysia to lift Asian Cricket Council (ACC) under-19 cricket trophy in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu on Saturday.

Nepal, who won the toss, put Malaysia in to bat first. Malaysia suffered a batting collapse and were all out in 25.5 overs for 83 runs.

Set a challenge of 84 runs to win, Nepal achieved the target in 25.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Nepal’s Bantu Bataju who took five Malaysian wickets was declared Man-of-the-Match.

Nepal now qualify to take part in International Cricket Council (ICC) under-19 World Cup championships scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka next year.
