Asmat grabs second gold for Army

LAHORE, Nov 18: Army reigned supreme in the absence of Wapda, when Asmat Ali grabbed a second gold medal for them on the second day of the national cycling championship on Friday.

Asmat clocked five min 12.24 secs to win 4000m individual pursuit, leaving behind compatriot Amjad Ali, who completed the distance in five min 17.50 secs. Noor Alam (SSGC) claimed bronze medal.

The heats in the events of elimination race and 4km team pursuit was also held.

On Saturday, the cyclists will take part in 42km Road Time Trials to be held from Lahore Airport to Haji Camp.

Wapda had staged a walkout for not allowing Zulifqar Ali and Dilsher Ali to compete due to their positive dope test.

Amjad Ali (Army) five minutes 17.50 sec.

Noor Alam (SSGC) five minutes 27.51sec. Ashraf Masih (Rly) five minutes 28.28sec.

Mohammad Asif (Rly) five minutes 41.94sec.

Imran Sharif (SSGC five minutes 43.00sec.
