Tight security for bypolls

LAHORE, Nov 18: Punjab IGP Ziaul Hassan on Friday directed the Gujranwala DIG and DPO to ensure foolproof arrangements for bypolls in PP-97 (Gujranwala) being held on Nov 21. The IGP directed them to have a close liaison with the district returning officer and returning officer for conducting smooth polls. He warned that any lapse on the part of police in maintaining law and order and protection to voters would not be tolerated.

The provincial police chief directed the police to ensure peaceful environment during the elections while showing absolute impartiality in the discharge of their duty. — Staff Reporter
