MIANWALI, Nov 16: The Supreme Court has stopped Malik Feroz Joya to perform his duties as Piplan tehsil nazim from Wednesday and summoned the record of the election on Nov 26. The court issued the order on the appeal of losing candidate Fakir Abdul Majeed on Wednesday.

The court was told that the Fakir was declared winner in the election for tehsil nazim by three votes. His rival Feroz Joya of the Khidmat Ittehad group of federal minister Dr Sher Afgan filed an appeal with the Lahore High Court which gave its decision in his favour. Accordingly, he took oath and started work last week.

Fakir Majeed moved the Supreme Court which barred Mr Joya from working.

SPORTS PROMOTION: Heads of primary, elementary and high schools have been directed to introduce different games in their schools and to allocate one period daily for sports activities.

These instructions were issued by DCO Zulfiqar Toor while presiding over a meeting which was attended by headmasters and headmistress of the schools of Mianwali tehsil. PTIs also attended the meeting.

The DCO asked them to buy sports gear and kits from the ‘Farogh-i-Taleem’ fund. He also promised to provide Rs5,000 as token money to all the schools which have already spent their fund.

Government College for Women principal Ms Munaza Alam said since the government has stopped matching grant, sports activities had been stopped. She said sports kits were too costly for the students and institutions to buy.

Government High School headmaster Abdul Rashid demanded that the playgrounds should be protected from the land grabbers.
