The Sindh government has relaxed Covid-19 related restrictions in Karachi, permitting eateries to operate at 70 per cent occupancy and increasing the numbers of guests allowed at indoor and outdoor gatherings, according to a notification issued by the provincial home department.

The decision has been taken in line with NCOC guidelines as the city's vaccination status improves to "good vaccination progress", with 40 per cent to 50pc of its population having been inoculated against Covid-19.

According to revised guidelines:

  • While only vaccinated individuals are allowed to attend indoor and outdoor gatherings, the number of individuals allowed in indoor gatherings has been increased to 500
  • Eateries have been allowed to operate at 70pc occupancy, up from 50pc earlier
  • The maximum number of guests allowed at indoor weddings has been increased to 500 and 1,000 for outdoor weddings. However, the restriction on inviting unvaccinated individuals remains
  • Amusement parks, water sports facilities and swimming pools can operate at 70pc occupancy

Covid-19 restrictions in other regions of the province remain the same as before as they continue to report a vaccination rate of below 40pc.
