MULTAN: The Pakistan Cricket Board with the collaboration of South Punjab Cricket Association and School Education Department (South Punjab) has launched an under-16 cricket tournament.

A formal ceremony was held at the District Cricket Ground on Monday, which was attended by School Education Secretary Dr Ehtasham Anwar, SPCA Chairman Khawaja Muhammad Anees, SPCA Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdul Saboor, divisional and district sports officers, civil society representatives, sport lovers and school children.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anwar said after having successfully organised first-ever School Olympics of South Punjab in Dera Ghazi Khan last week, and launching Schools Hockey League earlier on in Bahawalpur, the SED would continue to promote at sport in schools. He said 15 teams from private as well public schools of Multan were participating in the tournament.

In his welcome address, SPCA CEO Dr Saboor informed the participants that 184 teams have been mobilized as part of school cricket in South Punjab.

Later, a match was played wherein Muslim High School, Kalma Chowk beat Beaconhouse School System, Multan, by 71 runs.
