ISLAMABAD, Nov 16: Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sikandar Hayat Bosan has urged the need of revision in Sugar Factory Control Act, 1950 to make it comfortable for growers and sugar industry.

He has asked the Cane Commissioners of the provinces to persuade the matter on priority in order to bring the new changes in the Act.

Bosan was chairing a meeting on the problems of sugarcane growers and sugar industry here on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Food, Agriculture and Livestock (MINFAL) Muhammad Ali Malkani, Secretary MINFAL M. Ismail Qureshi, Chairman and Members of Pakistani Sugar Mills Association (PSMA), Cane Commissioners of the provinces and representative of growers.

The meeting discussed in detail a mechanism to fix the price of sugarcane on the basis of quality, progress on value addition of bi-products such as ethanol.—APP
