LAHORE: The Congress of the Pakistan Hockey Federation on Wednesday approved two amendments to its constitution regarding forming ten regions across the country and holding the first PHF League in March next year.

The amendments were approved during the 55th Congress which was presided over by PHF president retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar here on Wednesday.

According to the details, four regions will be formed in Punjab, two in Sindh and one each in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

PHF secretary Asif Bajwa told Dawn that Karachi and Sukkur would be the regions in Sindh while Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Sialkot would be the regions of Punjab.

“The regions will feature in the national hockey championships which hopefully will increase the base of players in the country. Further details will be confirmed later,” Bajwa added.

The PHF is taking steps to hold a league on the pattern of PCB’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) and in this regard the federation is hiring the services of professional companies.
