KARACHI, Nov 15: The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), Karachi, on Tuesday announced the results of HSC part-I pre-engineering, science general and humanities (private) annual examination 2005.

According to statistics a total of 21,406 candidates, including 5,190 girls appeared in the pre-engineering group exams, out of which 7,207, including 1,737 girls, cleared all the six papers.

As many as 4,655, including 1,347 girls, were declared successful in five papers, while another 3,413, including 917 girls, cleared four papers. The number of candidates clearing three, two and one paper remained 3,686, 1,714 and 621 respectively.

Another 1,860 candidates, including 551 girls appeared in the science (general) group examination, out of which 346 cleared six papers, while 560 were successful in five papers, 533 in four papers, 208 in three papers, 130 in two papers and 66 in one paper.

Humanities (private) group examination was taken by 8,865 candidates, out of which 2,692 cleared six papers, 2,057 cleared five, 1,536 passed four, 1,232 passed three, 751 two and 444 one paper only.

The board withheld the results of 137 candidates for want of correct information or necessary documents, while that of 23 candidates on the grounds of using unfair means.
